Explore the picturesque towns and villages of Lancashire’s scenic Ribble Valley

This handy pocket-sized guidebook features 15 of the best short walks around Lancashire’s Ribble Valley. Each walk comes with easy-to-read Ordnance Survey maps, clear route description and lots of images, plus information on beauty spots and refreshment stops. No challenging terrain or complicated navigation means these walks can be enjoyed by everyone.
With its rolling countryside and wooded river valleys, the Ribble Valley is a genuine walker’s paradise. From riverside rambles to gentle afternoon ambles through scenic villages, this unspoilt corner of rural Lancashire offers a huge selection of circular walks and an abundance of welcoming village pubs, friendly cafés and historic country inns.

This guidebook explores the mid-Ribble Valley: from the historic market town of Clitheroe and the pretty villages like Whalley, Waddington, Downham, Longridge and Hurst Green. I’ve also included a really nice linear walk along the Ribble Way from Sawley back to Clitheroe.
Designed to be enjoyed by anyone with a reasonable level of fitness all the walks are under six miles in length with less than 300m of climbing and can be comfortably completed in two-and-a-half to three hours.
